It is time for our elected officials to look beyond the greed for excess and see the need of those in distress. In my opinion, if we keep going down this path that we are on, we will end up being the weakest country in the Universe. The wealthiest portion of our population  has never been sick and unable to see a doctor, or to go the hospital, or to buy medicine. They have never been hungry. They have never had to rely on the kindness of others to put food in their mouths; I neglect to say on their table, because, some of them don’t have a table. A country where millions of it’s people are sick; millions of it’s people are hungry is not a great country; it’s a weak country. This is the reason why we send foreign aid to other countries to help sustain their people. We send food and medical supplies to other places where the people are in need. We have missionaries going back and forth all over the world, where travel is permitted, to attend to the needs of the citizens of those countries; yet in our own country our citizens are being left out of the equation. I have spent thirty five years in the health field, and I have seen first hand how important it is for the poor to have assistance in obtaining healthcare and food. When a patient insurance is tapped out, I have seen the impact that it has on a patient who doesn’t know where to turn for help. That patient is not poor enough to get help from medicaid; yet not rich  enough to accommodate the cost of healthcare. Then there are those who have to depend on meals on wheels and other similar assistance. Healthy Nutrition is most important in getting well and staying well, and these meals should be well balanced. It is heart breaking to know that there are some of these people have to eat dog food to supplement their diet. These are people who have served this country in one capacity or the other. Now that they have served their purpose, it seemed as if they are being asked to survive on even less than the minimum wage they received when they were able to serve their country.

For the children, breakfast is very important. Many parents have to rush their children off to school, so they can get to work themselves, on time, there is not enough time to prepare a healthy breakfast. Having a low grade breakfast, if any, and lunch that is not well balanced, those children cannot function academically; they are being set up for failure. We the people did not vote for this. We voted for a better America, one that would be GREAT for everyone.   POTUS, HOUSE and SENATE, please be mindful of this before taking away health benefits and cutting funds that help feed your people.
